Support Engineer- Italian


Job Description


As part of a large international support delivery organization, provide technical support to customers with solutions based on predominately Linux, NetWare or MS Windows platforms. This includes both proactive and reactive technical support as well as occasional travel to customer sites within EMEA. The position requires exceptional troubleshooting skills and outstanding customer communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot issues and provide accurate and timely resolution to customers
  • Interact with development, duplicate and analyze issues, prepare for code changes
  • Assists other Support Engineers with issues relating to own skill set
  • Document solutions to known issues and pro-actively provide these to customers


Candidate Profile

  • 3 years experience in technical support and/or system/network administration
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Management of Information
  • Systems or equivalent knowledge gained from practical experience
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English & Italian
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communications and public relations skills
  • Used to work in environments with high levels of stress, dealing with complex technical issues whilst managing customer expectations during system down situations


Technical Skills

  • Understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP and HTTP caching, Radius, Kerberos, SSL, trace reading
  • experience with routing and switching, including L4
  • Understanding of firewalls, package filtering, NAT, PAT, application proxy (HTTP, SOCKS), VPN concepts, public key infrastructure and certificates
  • Basic understanding of HTML, JavaScript, Tomcat and Apache Webserver
  • Familiarity with directory services such as eDir, LDAP and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with SAML, Tokens, WSFED, OAUTH an advantage
  • Linux know-how on LPI Level 1, CompTIA Linux+ or Novell CLP
  • Experience with other related Novell products such as Secure Login or IDM

Additional Skills

  • Very good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Practical technical background in networking, security and systems management
  • Experience in technical support and/or system/network administration
  • Knowledge of network architecture, design and troubleshooting
